The Wipe

August 23, 2007

I’m completely drained.  For those of you who aren’t in the know for me, I’m in the equivalent of Christmas Eve for a retail business.  School has begun, and the past few weeks have been completely geared for this.  I’m in the midst of execution, which is at once nightmarish (this is some hard, hot work), and exhilirating (it’s almost over!)

I should clarify on this.  I like it when I can help someone with my job (who doesn’t?), but what I do involves a great deal of rejection (try getting college students to fill out a card on the way to class) and convincing others to take part.  It’s pretty tough, but it’s not laying brick, surgery, or Amnesty International.  I’m not going to bitch too much.  Furthermore, this marks the beginning of the big push throughout November.  We’re told that this energy has to be maintained to be successful, and I agree-and that’s where my strengths come in.  I can talk to a lot of people and get business generated.  What sucks is having to solicit.

And after tomorrow, that’s done.

I’ll be happy to get back in my comfort zone.  In the meantime, I push through.  I apologize to all in the blogosphere who vaguely pay attention to my ramblings-they’ve died off for a while.  As of Friday, I should be back on the job.
